It's important to take some time in your day to focus on yourself and how you're feeling - not work, not someone else, but simply yourself.
Some days you wake up feeling great, ready to take charge of the day. Whenever you have days like that, enjoy them. Start as you mean to go, continue to enjoy the day, and do things that keep you in that great mood. Then there are those days when you wake up in the morning and you're not feeling good at all. For some reason or another, you've woken up in a mood, one you can't explain or one you can explain but you're just not ready to address yet. All you know for sure is that today is just not your day. As frustrating as that can be, I've learned that there is healing in confronting those feelings. I know it can be uncomfortable to spend time thinking about the things that have put you in a bad mood or have left you in low spirits, but when you don't confront these feelings, you end up giving more power to them. You're also more likely to feel the way you're feeling for longer. So, give yourself a moment, or however long you need to think about what or who has put you in a bad mood. A lot of us like to sweep our feelings under the rug because we think it's better kept in, than out, or because we don't want to bother explaining to people how we feel, or we think the feelings will simply pass without affecting us deep down. We say we're okay when actually we're really not. So, what next?
One of the most important ways to live a phenomenal life is by taking care of yourself which includes looking after and prioritising your mental health. Write down how you're feeling. Record yourself speaking about how you feel. Pray about the way you're feeling and let God give you the peace you need.
While you may not be able to change your circumstances right away, what you do have the power to control is your reaction to those circumstances. It's not always easy and it's something that has to be worked on daily. You can't help what affects you, or makes you upset, or angry or afraid. But try to tackle the situation by accepting the way you feel and think about how you can overcome those feelings so you can feel good again. To do that, you need to remove distractions. Step away from your phone, your laptop, or even certain people. You can also change your mood and relieve your stresses by doing some meditation, praying, going for walks and exercising, journaling, listening to music that relaxes you or watching your favourite series online. Pencil in some "me" time, because it's important to give yourself a break from the stresses of everyday life and stresses of people - people can really stress you!
Areas to focus on:
The way you feel and how your environment might be affecting it.
Things you can change right now instead of things that you have no immediate control over.
Positive feelings and good things going on in your life (don't spend time exerting energy on things and people that do not bring you peace or joy).
What you can control - your feelings.
Remove distractions and step away from negative people in your life.
Focus on your breathing.
inhale and exhale.
Take a moment to think about how you're feeling today.
inhale and exhale.
Now ask yourself again, how are you feeling today?
inhale and exhale.
Sending love and positivity your way
Danielle
