Every day I am learning to be confident in who God says I am (in the midst of my fears and insecurities).
There's a popular saying that confidence is quiet and insecurities are loud. We've all got insecurities and fears; some are more overwhelming than others. Some of us are insecure about the way we look. Some of us fear we won't find love. Some of us fear we aren't "good" enough. Some of us fear we aren't smart enough. Some of us fear we won't reach our potential in life.
It's so easy to get caught up in a cycle of comparison. We compare ourselves to our friends, family members, celebrities, and oddly enough, even strangers. We tend to equate our value with standards set by the world, but we don't realise what a disservice that is to God's work - us. We are HIS creation. The same God that created the mountains, the heavens, the oceans, and galaxies, created you and me.
“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’
For a long time, I wasted time focusing on the way people perceived me. Outwardly I seemed confident but inside I struggled with self-confidence.But with God, there's always hope and something beautiful called Godfidence.
Godfidence (noun): assurance in who God says you are.
God saved me and accepted me even with my sins and all the things I considered flaws of mine.
I am not perfect but I am precious in God's eyes. The moral of this story is that we have to stop being so hard on ourselves. We can be a work in progress and a masterpiece.
Today, I find security in the one who saved me;
the one who kept me;
the one who challenges me;
the one who helps me;
the one who fulfills me;
the one who comforts me;
the one who leads me.
I will no longer view myself through the eyes of the world and the people in it. I will view myself in the eyes of my heavenly creator. I will walk with a Godfident spirit.
I have decided to be conscious of how I nurture myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. I want to encourage you to find comfort and security in God and not the things of this world.To build my self-confidence, I ask God daily to show me who he wants me to be so that I can be used for His purpose. When you know who God has called you to be, walk boldly in that confidence knowing the POWER that stands behind you. God makes no mistakes!
Affirmation:
I am committed to being a strong, secure child of God.
I cast out all fear and anxiety.
I am not called to look like the world.
I am called to move from grace to grace, strength to strength and glory to glory.
My JOY will always come from the Lord.
